EdUHK Hosts the International Conference on Chinese Language Heritage in a Diverse World

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) hosted the 'International Conference on Chinese Language Heritage in a Diverse World’ on 27 and 28 June, to promote intergenerational and cross-regional dialogue on Chinese language and culture, and to explore the preservation and transmission of linguistic and cultural heritage.

The conference was organised by EdUHK CKC TechCulture Innovation Centre, with the support of the HKU SPACE, the Department of Chinese Language Studies of EdUHK, the Master of Arts in Teaching Chinese as an International Language Programme, and the International Journal of Chinese Language Education. There were around 100 participants from Mainland China, Macau, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand.

The participants presented 64 papers in total, demonstrating the international nature and diversity of Chinese language and culture. EdUHK hopes scholars and experts from different countries and regions can explore the essence of Chinese language and culture through keynote speeches, invitational thematic discussions and paper presentations.

The conference concluded with two roundtable discussions, on the sustainable development of Chinese language teaching in the era of artificial intelligence, and the challenges and opportunities in Chinese language teaching. For more details about the conference, please visit: https://icclh.eduhk.hk/
