EdUHK Confers First batch of Honorary Doctorates

At its Congregation today (18 November), The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) conferred its first honorary doctorates on two distinguished individuals in recognition of remarkable contributions to their fields in advancing education and social progress.

The recipients were (in alphabetical order of surname):

  • Professor Michael W. Apple, FAERA – Doctor of Education, honoris causa
  • Dr Eric Li Ka-cheung, GBS, JP – Doctor of Social Sciences, honoris causa

Speaking at the Congregation, Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of EdUHK, congratulated all 3,319 graduates on the successful completion of their studies – the first batch of graduates to be conferred degrees under the name of The Education University of Hong Kong.

“I hope that you are proud of our University as much as we are proud of you. Indeed, the entire University community has worked hard to become what we are today,” Professor Cheung said. “Education is all about bringing changes in people’s lives to improve our society and make the world a better place,” he added. “In the same spirit, I place my trust in you as the best agents to drive such changes.”

The following are a few snapshots of today’s Congregation.
