The U-STEMist Scheme: Project Exhibition cum Prize Presentation

You or your representatives are cordially invited to attend and cover “The U-STEMist Scheme: Project Exhibition cum Prize Presentation Ceremony”, which will be held on 8 June (Saturday).

The U-STEMist Scheme is a UGC-funded teaching and learning project on STEM and STEM education, jointly organised by The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), The University of Hong Kong (HKU), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU).

Over 120 undergraduates from the four participating universities majoring in STEM-education or various STEM-related disciplines including science, technology, engineering and mathematics, were grouped into 23 inter-university teams. Each team was required to identify specific needs of its community partner assigned to them, which ranged from non-governmental organisations, and schools to private companies. Each team had to come up with a solution by designing a STEM artefact or activity to meet its partner’s needs. The aim of the project is to broaden students’ perspectives, and at the same time stimulate creative ideas to benefit the community.

The participating teams will showcase their projects in an exhibition on Saturday. The project leaders from the four universities, namely Dr Yeung Chi-ho and Dr Lee Yeung-chung from EdUHK; Dr Valerie Yip Wing-yan from HKU; Dr Victor Lau Kwok-chi from CUHK; and Dr Eddie Lam Siu-shu from PolyU, will preside over the event. The Executive Director of the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education,  Professor Ng Tai-kai, will address the ceremony. Other details of the event are as follows.
