The Jockey Club SMILE Project Closing Ceremony cum Outcome Sharing Seminar

You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover The Jockey Club SMILE Project Closing Ceremony cum Outcome Sharing Seminar: Inspiring Teachers on How to Teach Students with AD/HD and Intellectual Disabilities organised by the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education (CSENIE) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) on 3 December 2016 (Saturday).

With the development of integrated education, over thirty thousand students with special educational needs (SEN) are studying in mainstream primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. Apart from providing teacher training in inclusive education, CSENIE has undertaken various school-based support projects that have helped teachers sharpen their learning skills to overcome the challenges they face when dealing with learning diversity.

The three-year Jockey Club SMILE Project was completed in August 2016, with a total of 145 schools benefiting from it. At the seminar, teacher representatives from participating schools will share their experience and outcomes, especially those related to learning and teaching, and managing SEN students.

Officiating at the ceremony will be Ms Winnie Ying, Executive Manager, Charities (Grant Making – Youth, Education & Training, Poverty) of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Professor Lui Tai-lok, Vice President (Research and Development) at EdUHK and Professor Kenneth Sin Kuen-fung, Director of CSENIE at EdUHK. Dr Ho Fuk-chuen and Dr Rosa Chiu Ching Tak-lan of EdUHK will disseminate the results of their “Survey on supporting students’ learning with intellectual disabilities in mainstream schools”. The team will also report the overall effectiveness of the project and introduce a Resources Package.
