The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year. We are pleased to announce that the banquet will be held on the evening of 23 November 2024 (Saturday), at the Grand Hall, 3rd Floor, Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, located at 1 Expo Drive, Wan Chai.

This significant event will bring together government officials, leaders from the education sector, past and present members of the EdUHK Council, faculty, students, alumni, and friends from various sectors. Together, we will celebrate the remarkable achievements of EdUHK over the past 30 years and look ahead to future developments.

Mr John Lee Ka-chiu, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Chancellor of EdUHK, will deliver a video address. Other officiating guests will include Mr Eric Chan Kwok-ki, Chief Secretary for Administration of the HKSAR; Dr David Wong Yau-kar, Chairman of the EdUHK Council; Professor John Lee Chi-Kin, President of EdUHK; and others, including this year’s recipients of EdUHK honorary doctorates.

During the evening, commemorative gifts will be presented to four outstanding individuals who have been conferred honorary doctorates by EdUHK this year. The recipients are as follows (listed in alphabetical order by surname):   

• Professor Stephen J Ball, FBA, FAcSS
• Professor Marilyn Cochran-Smith
• Professor Frederick Ma Si-hang, GBS, JP
• The Honourable Maria Tam Wai-chu, GBM, GBS, JP

The theme of EdUHK’s 30th Anniversary celebration is "Education Talent Virtue", highlighting the University's mission to foster talent with a strong sense of national identity, a global perspective, and a commitment to social responsibility. EdUHK aims to make a greater contribution to the future development of education in Hong Kong, the nation and the world.

Seating is limited, and each media organisation is requested to send no more than two representatives to the event.
