In 2018, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) launched the three-year “Jockey Club from Words to Culture Programme: an Animated Way to Learn Chinese” Project to create multimedia Chinese language teaching materials for primary students, in collaboration with famous local artist Chao Yat (Mr Leung Chung-kei) in the production of the Tiddler’s Chinese Word Pool animation. As part of the project, EdUHK will run the  “Chao Yat and Tiddler’s Chinese Word Pool Exhibition” from 27 March to 30 April at the Hong Kong Arts Centre. You or your representatives are welcome to cover the occasion.

The exhibition is the first in Hong Kong to present an animated series for Chinese language education. Apart from displaying Chao Yat’s original sketches and drawings that contributed to the animated series, there will be an online “sentence writing” competition and a colouring competition to engage both children and parents in pleasurable learning. Tiddler’s Chinese Word Pool is  one of the multimedia Chinese language teaching materials developed under the project, with an aim to cultivate junior primary students’ interest in Chinese language and culture and develop their moral values.

The exhibition will be open for media’s preview at 11 am on 27 March (Friday). Among the attendees will be Dr Fung Chi-wang, Project co-leader and Assistant Professor from the Department of Literature and Cultural Studies at EdUHK; Chao Yat (Mr Leung Chung-kei); and Mr Kong Kee, Director of Tiddler’s Chinese Word Pool. Remarks:

During the first two weeks, the exhibition is only open to visitors aged 18 or above. Further arrangements will be announced later. Besides, to minimise the risk of infection, only 20 visitors will be allowed in the gallery at a time, and their temperature will be taken at the entrance. Visitors should wear a mask and keep a safe distance from one another. Hand sanitisers will be provided inside the gallery. Please contact the onsite staff if needed.
