EdUHK Welcomes Huizhou Government Leaders’ Visit
A delegation from the Huizhou Government visited The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) on 7 May 2024.
The delegation was led by Mr Wen Jinrong, Deputy Secretary of CPC Huizhou Municipal Committee and Mayor. They received a warm welcome from Dr Terence Chan Ho-wah, Deputy Chairman of EdUHK Council, Professor John Lee Chi-kin, EdUHK President, Professor May Cheng May-hung, Vice President (Academic), Dr Chow Man-kong, Associate Vice President (Institutional Advancement), and Professor Lo Sing-kai, Associate Vice President (Internationalisation), among others.
Other members of the Huizhou delegation included Mr Lai Jianhua, Member of the Standing Committee of CPC Huizhou Municipal Committee and Head of the United Front Work Department of Huizhou, Mr Deng Huanbin, Secretary-General of Huizhou Municipal Government, Ms Zhong Yonglan, Executive Deputy Head of the United Front Work Department of Huizhou and Director of Bureau of Taiwan, Hong Kong & Macao Affairs of Huizhou, Mr Zhou Zhangyu, Director of the Education Bureau of Huizhou, Ms Liao Wei, Director of the Industry and Information Technology Bureau of Huizhou, Mr Huang Songmao, Director of the Commerce Bureau of Huizhou, and Ms Zhang Jianya, Chairman of the Stateowned Capital Investment Group of Huizhou.
In addition, Mr George Lau Ka-keung, Executive Chairman, and Mr Yip Kat-kong, Executive Vice Chairman and Secretary-General from the Hong Kong Federation of Huizhou Associations, were also present.
During the meeting, Dr Chan and Professor Lee presented the latest developments of EdUHK to the delegation, including the establishment of the Academy for Applied Policy Studies and Education Futures, the Academy for Educational Development and Innovation, as well as the National Security and Legal Education Research Centre. Both sides discussed opportunities for collaboration in the context of the Greater Bay Area development, including exploring the establishment of a collaborative education centre in Huizhou with the support of the Municipal Government.
