EdUHK Delegation Visits Shandong to Deepen Cooperation within Hong Kong and Shandong Institutions

President of The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) Professor John Lee Chi-Kin led a delegation to Jinan, Shandong on 21 July. The delegation received a warm welcome from Mr Song Junji, Vice Governor of Shandong Provincial People’s Government. 
 
Mr Song highly praised and acknowledged the efforts made by EdUHK for initiating and implementing Shandong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance. He anticipated that under Professor Lee’s leadership, EdUHK would leverage its unique advantages to serve as a platform for collaboration and development in the areas of education, technology and talents between Shandong and Hong Kong. This initiative would better serve the national strategies and achieve joint development, mutual benefit, and shared prosperity. 

 

Professor Lee expressed gratitude to the heartfelt welcome by Mr Song and the Shandong Provincial People’s Government. He emphasised the commitment to “what the country needs, what Hong Kong excels at, and what EdUHK can contribute.” EdUHK would integrate herself into overall development of the country, playing a key role as a super-connector between the institutions in Shandong and Hong Kong to deepen higher education cooperation. EdUHK would also provide more support in sourcing talents and intellectual contributions to advance the new quality productive forces.

 

Mr Liu Taiguang, Deputy Director of the Administrative Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government, Mr Yin Xiaomin, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of Shandong Provincial People’s Government, Mr Wang Hao, Chief Inspector (Deputy Department Level) of the Provincial Department of Education, and Mr Wu Qubo, Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Division I from the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office also joined the meeting.
 
EdUHK delegation included Professor Michelle Gu Ming-yue, Dean of Graduate School, Professor Si Chung-mou from the Department of Chinese Language Studies, Ms Helen Gai Huixia, Director of Communications and Engagement, Dr Maxwell Ho Chun-sing, Associate Co-Director of the Academy for Educational Development and Innovation, and Ms Emily Fong Chi-wai, External Affairs Manager from the Office of the President.
