EdUHK President’s Commendation Scheme Recognises Students’ Achievements
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held its President’s Commendation Scheme Awardees Reception 2017-18 today (21 March) to commend students on their outstanding achievements beyond academic studies in the past year.
Apart from focusing on achievements in Arts and Culture, Community Service, Leadership and Sports, since last year the award has also included Innovation, Science and Technology to encourage students to transform knowledge and apply innovative ideas and technology to their daily lives.
Eight students and one team were awarded the President’s Commendation or President’s Appreciation this year. Two of the awardees were awarded the President’s Commendation, the highest level of recognition in the Scheme, for their distinguished performance in the area of Innovation, Science and Technology, and Sports.
The Whole Person Development Award was introduced to promote all-round development and recognise students’ achievements in co-curricular learning. Seven students were included on the Dean of Students’ List, which is the highest level of the Award, for their leadership and outstanding achievements in organising such activities.
Addressing the ceremony, EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung congratulated the awardees, “As an education-focused university, we firmly believe that education matters. We play an important role in fostering students’ whole-person development to ensure they become competent professionals, as well as active and engaged citizens ready for lifelong learning.”
The President’s Commendation Scheme Award is open to all full-time students enrolled at EdUHK. Since its inception in 2010, about 100 students and groups have been awarded. For the brief biographies of the recipients of the President’s Commendation Scheme Award 2017/18, please visit:
