EdUHK Presents Scholarships to Recognise Student Achievement
The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) held a reception today (11 May) to recognise students with outstanding performance in various areas and to express its gratitude to donors for their unfailing support during the past year.
Scholarships are awarded annually to students with outstanding academic achievement, leadership or service records, active participation in experiential learning activities, or extraordinary talent displayed in the creative arts or sports. This year, 770 scholarships worth about $21 million will be awarded.
Officiating at the ceremony was Guest of Honour Mr Wong Kam-sing, Acting Chief Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. Over 250 friends and supporters of EdUHK, including leading figures from the business and education sectors, as well as staff and scholarship recipients, were in attendance.
Addressing the ceremony, EdUHK President Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung said, “Thanks to the generosity of our many donors and friends, we have come a long way over the years towards where we are today. The numerous scholarships, bursaries and impactful projects made possible by your contributions have helped change lives, impart knowledge and improve society."
Professor Cheung said he is most grateful for each donation, which he said was recognition and affirmation of the University’s work.
The EdUHK Foundation is a high-level platform, established in December 2014, with the prime objective of engaging various sectors of the community to advance the quality of teacher education, learning, teaching and research at the University.
