The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) is pleased to announce that it has placed 212th out of 984 higher education institutions, in its first year entering the QS World University Rankings: Asia. In its 2025 rankings, released today (6 November), international higher education research institution Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) placed EdUHK in the top 25%.

EdUHK President Professor John Lee Chi-Kin said, “EdUHK has participated in the QS Asian University Rankings for the first time and we have achieved encouraging results. They act as recognition of the various work indicators of the University's faculty, students, and departments. The University will continue to strive in the future to make a greater contribution to fostering Hong Kong as an international hub for higher education.”

The QS World University Rankings: Asia 2025 methodology is based on 11 indicators, which incorporate academic reputation, citations per paper, papers per faculty, employer reputation, faculty student ratio, staff members with PhDs, international research network, inbound exchange students’ ratio, outbound exchange students’ ratios, international faculty ratio and international students’ ratio.

In addition, EdUHK was rated as a ‘5-star institution’ and awarded a ‘5-star certificate’ in the latest QS Stars rating system; it highlighted EdUHK's excellence in teaching, research, facilities and other areas.

Professor Lee and Vice President (Research and Development) Professor Chetwyn Chan Che-hin attended the Gala Dinner for the QS Higher Ed Summit Asia Pacific 2024 held yesterday, where they officially received the 5-Star Institution certificate.

In addition, during today’s panel discussion on the topic of micro-credentials, Professor Lee explained that micro-credentials and the skills of ‘micro-mastery’ can enhance employability. Integrating these skills into the education system will further support lifelong learning, foster personal and professional growth, and contribute to a sustainable and inclusive future.
