The Healthcare System and the Hegemony of the Medical Profession in Hong Kong
You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover “The Healthcare System and Healthcare Hegemony in Hong Kong”, a seminar co-organised by the Centre for Greater China Studies (CGCS) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) and the Division of Social Sciences at the Community College of City University on 3 March 2017 (Friday).
Few studies have investigated the local healthcare system from a perspective of the “hegemony of the medical profession”. This seminar will fill that gap by revealing the influence of the healthcare sector on Hong Kong’s healthcare system. It will show that the successes and failures of the system over the past four decades have been closely related to the unique role and superior status of medical professionals.
Speaking at the seminar will be Dr Shae Wan-chaw, former Associate Dean of the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
