You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover the opening ceremony of an exhibition, titled ‘Hong Kong School Uniforms – Past and Present’, at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) this Wednesday (28 November).

Though small compared to other great cities in Asia, Hong Kong has over 2,000 schools, covering kindergarten, primary and secondary levels, as well as schools for students with special needs. Since almost all schools have their own uniforms, it is noteworthy how each has managed to differentiate itself in the styling, fabric, badges and colour to the extent that the uniforms make the visual identity of each school unique in some way. The Hong Kong Museum of Education is glad to curate this first thematic exhibition on Hong Kong school uniforms. The year-long exhibition provides an overview of school uniform development in Hong Kong over the past 100 years and how this has reflected wider changes in our conception of childhood and our approach to education.

Officiating at the ceremony will be Professor Stephen Cheung Yan-leung, President of EdUHK, and Professor John Lee Chi-kin, Vice President (Academic) and Chairman of the Education Heritage Advisory Committee.
