Graduation of Elite Athletes from EdUHK

The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) will confer this Friday (17 November) Bachelor’s degrees on professional badminton player Miss Yip Pui-yin and professional racing cyclist Miss Sarah Lee Wai-sze.

 

Miss Yip was admitted to the University’s Bachelor of Health Education (Honours) programme in 2012 and Miss Lee was admitted to the same programme in 2013. They will meet the media before the Congregation to share their study experience in the past few years and their aspirations after graduation.

 

Professor Joanne Chung Wai-yee, Dean of Faculty of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and Dr Ada Ma Wai-wing, Associate Head of the University’s Health and Physical Education (HPE) Department at EdUHK will explain how the University supports and promotes dual career pathways to allow elite athletes to pursue their studies while continuing their training. To foster dual career pathways for elite athletes’ education and to promote research collaboration, EdUHK (formerly The Hong Kong Institute of Education) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Hong Kong Sports Institute (HKSI) in 2014, which covers a range of collaboration in athlete education, including the admission of elite athletes and coaches into EdUHK’s undergraduate programmes through a special scheme.
