EdUHK’s Cross-institutional Study Finds Artificial Mussels Able to Monitor Radioactivity in the Ocean
The discharge of radioactive wastes into our ocean has attracted global concern. You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover a press conference on a cross-institutional study which has successfully used ‘Artificial Mussels’ to effectively and accurately measure radionuclides in the ocean. This important advancement overcomes the existing difficulties and could be adopted as a practical solution for monitoring radioactive contamination around the world.
The cross-institutional study has been conducted by The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK), in collaboration with the City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and The University of Hong Kong (HKU).
Professor Rudolf Wu Shiu-sun of the Department of Science and Environmental Studies, the inventor of ‘Artificial Mussels’, together with his team members Professor Vincent Ko Chi-chiu, Department of Chemistry at CityU; and Dr Yang Yi, postdoctoral fellow of The State Key Laboratory of Marine Pollution at CityU, will introduce their novel technology at the press conference. After which, the academics of the Department of Science and Environmental Studies will also share some of their latest research projects.
