20th Anniversary Celebration for Primary STEM Project Exhibition
You or your representatives are cordially invited to cover the 20th Anniversary Celebration Ceremony for the Primary STEM Project Exhibition (PSPE) to be held next Monday (26 June) at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). Founded in 1997, the PSPE is the largest annual event featuring primary school science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) projects. Over the past 20 years, the PSPE has been committed to nurturing talents in science exploration, in pace with the HKSAR’s development.
Co-organised by the Centre for Education in Environmental Sustainability (CEES) and the Department of Science and Environmental Studies (SES) at EdUHK, along with other parties, the Celebration will feature a STEM forum on “Why and How to Enhance STEM Education”, in which experience in STEM education at the management level will be discussed by principals and educators. Professor John Lee Chi-kin, Vice President of EdUHK will deliver an opening speech. In addition, Professor Tsui Lap-chee, President and Founding Member of the Academy of Sciences of Hong Kong, Mr Gyver Lau Kwok-leung from a local secondary school and Ms Sylvia Chan May-kuen from a local primary school will serve as adjudicators, alongside Professor Winnie So Wing-mui from EdUHK, to shortlist the best 3 STEM projects under the main theme of “Green and Simple Urban Living”. Winners of the “Adjudicators Award” from the May event will also compete for the “20th Anniversary Award”.
Last month, approximately 170 STEM projects on green living from local schools and schools from other cities in the Pearl Delta Region were showcased at the 20th PSPE. At the exhibition, students discussed their project outcomes, scientific principles and the concepts behind their projects, as well as the tests and experiments used in their inquiries.
