Professor Christina Yu Wai-mui is currently Professor (Practice) of the Department of Social Sciences and Warden of the Grantham Hall at The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK). 

Professor Yu commenced her teaching career in secondary business education in 1986 after receiving her initial teacher training at the Hong Kong Technical Teachers’ College. She completed her Bachelor of Education (Business Studies) degree at the University of Wolverhampton in 1993. She further developed her teaching career in business teacher education by joining EdUHK (the then Hong Kong Institute of Education) in 1995 and completed her Master degree in Arts (Educational Management) at the Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education in 1996 (being renamed as Gloucestershire University in 2001), and her PhD study at the Queensland University of Technology in 2003. Apart from education study, she completed her Master of Christian Studies at the China Graduate School of Theology in 2017.

Professor Yu has been heavily involved in developing and teaching Business Studies Courses in a whole range of pre- and in-service teacher education programmes at both undergraduate and post-graduate levels. Her major teaching areas are pedagogical content knowledge and contemporary issues in business-related disciplines including entrepreneurship, personal finance, workforce competence and organizational performance management. Her teaching focuses on stimulating students’ active learning and knowledge transfer in the real context through the use of blended learning. She received the Certificate of Merit of the Distinguished Teacher’s Award in 2003-2004 and the Certificate of Merit of the Scholarship of Teaching Award in 2009-10 at HKIEd, as well as the President’s Award for Outstanding Performance in Teaching and a nomination of UGC Teaching Award in 2017-18 at EdUHK.

Professor Yu's research and publication cover a wide range of areas including competence development, pedagogical strategies, business education, entrepreneurship education, personal finance education, gender in education, field experience and vocational/career education. In recent years, she played a leading role in creating an evidence- and technology-based learning framework to advance student teachers’ learning in field experience. She has further extended her research interest in Career and Lifelong Planning Education (CLPE) and successfully completed the ‘School-University-Reaching-Enterprises Partnership Project (SURE)’ to promoting CLPE in school and university sectors. Currently, she is advocating personal finance education through a leading of two funded projects.
