Introduction
The Academy for Applied Policy Studies and Education Futures (AAPSEF) is an interdisciplinary research and innovation institute established by The Education University of Hong Kong in 2023. The primary mission of AAPSEF is to address the challenges and opportunities faced by Hong Kong, the nation, and humanity in the present and future. AAPSEF achieves this through strengthening applied policy research, conducting in-depth studies, providing practical solutions, and translating research outcomes into practical applications. The academy focuses on various areas, including but not limited to, economic and manpower studies, artificial intelligence and digital literacy education, enterprise and innovation education, higher education leadership, national security and legal education, STEAM education, and innovation.
AAPSEF is dynamic and innovative, aiming to leverage the University's strengths and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. It provides a research platform for faculty members and experts who are keen to engage in research activities and participate in events that contribute to professional development and application of knowledge. AAPSEF also collaborates closely with government, industry, academia, research institutions, and the education sector to become a forward-looking organisation. Additionally, it supports government policies and measures to enhance teaching and learning among various stakeholders in the education field, cultivating innovative and well-rounded individuals who can contribute to society.
AAPSEF consists of six centres focusing on economic and manpower studies, artificial intelligence and digital literacy education, enterprise and innovation education, higher education leadership, national security and legal education, and STEAM education. It aims to realise the vision of future education. AAPSEF has also pioneered the Advanced Executive Master of Public Administration and Leadership (EMPAL) program, which aims to nurture more applied public administration and leadership talents. It equips them with the ability to 'anchor in Hong Kong, rely on the motherland, and connect to the world', as well as the latest professional knowledge and governance capabilities. These talents will meet the future needs of Hong Kong and the nation, serving various levels of government departments, and public and private organisations.
